Live on campus in an engaged community of artists, in the heart of Manhattan! SVA's residence halls are safe and convenient and offer community spaces for studying, working and socializing. Student and professional staff live in the residence halls to provide all necessary assistance to students. There are several options available for housing. Click on the links on the right to learn more.

HOUSING COSTS AND RATES

SVA housing costs in one of the college's residences range from $9,750 to $14,050 for the 2012-2013 academic year. Housing room rates are based on room size and type. Prices for the 2012-2013 academic year are below:

A nonrefundable $500 enrollment fee and an $800 housing deposit ($300 nonrefundable placement fee and a $500 security deposit) must be submitted to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.

New students will be placed in housing on a first-come, first-served basis. The housing deposit will be returned only if a student cannot be placed in housing.

*Renovated rooms have new floor surfaces, refinished bathrooms and new modular furniture (floors 8 - 17 are renovated; floors 3 - 7 are not)

** The New Residence Triple is a housing option where 3 students share a bedroom. All triples are housed within the three bedroom apartments at New Residence, where there are two double bedrooms and one triple bedroom for a total of seven residents sharing the apartment.

ROOMMATE PLACEMENT
Roommate placement is based upon resident's ages, preferences and responses to lifestyle preference questionnaires. The Office of Residence Life will make every effort to accommodate requests.

CHECK-IN
Residence halls are open for check-in for the Fall 2011 semester starting August 28, 2011 for freshmen and transfer students. Orientation for new students will take place on August 28, 2011 - September 2, 2011. To ensure the security of housing assignments, students must check-in to the residence halls no later than the first Friday of classes for both the spring and fall semester.

HOUSING TOURS
You are invited to take a tour of SVA's Residence Halls! It is not necessary to make an appointment for housing tours.

Tours of the George Washington and the New Residence are available weekdays between 12pm and 2pm. To arrange a housing tour please visit our office on the mezzanine level of the George Washington, at 23 Lexington Avenue.

Tours of the Ludlow Residence are available Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday between 12pm and 2pm and on Tuesday between 1pm and 3pm. To arrange a tour, go directly to 101 Ludlow Street and check in with the security officer.
